Who is Confident?

I want to be more confident is what i hear all the time from my clients and attendees on my workshops. But what is confidence and why is it that some people feel they need it?
Well we are all confident at some points in our life and its generally when we know what we are doing or have the skills to undertake what is required. A good example of this would be when learning to drive, the first lesson is nerve racking as its all brand new and you have no idea of what you are doing. However by the time you take and pass your test your confidence is in an abundance as you now have all the skills needed to drive and be safe.
So ask yourself in what context do i want to be confident, then look at what you would need to do to feel confident in this situation.
Prepare and Practice will make you feel confident in situations similar to presentations or interviews.
If you do not feel confident when challenging another person, then make sure that before you challenge this person that you have all the facts and can see the situation from both sides.
In most cases not being confident comes from being unprepared or unskilled, so identify what it is that you are not confident in doing and look at what you need to do to change you into a confident person.
Don't confuse low self esteem with lack of confidence as although they are frequently used as meaning the same, THEY ARE NOT!!!
Self esteem relates to how you feel about yourself overall and self confidence relates to your abilities.
And remember those individuals who you think are full of confidence, probably feel or have felt exactly the same as you do. Have belief in your self and your ability to achieve and you will be brimming with confidence and positivity.
